Contrary to earlier expectations of unbridled riches. My gilding project has proved to be an unbridled flop- small groan. In the words of my eldest son ‘Dad you’re flogging a dead horse.’ I should point out he is never right about anything and I usually discard his ideas without further thought. As any right minded person would do. In this instance credit where it’s due, he showed uncanny foresight. He was right and-even more worrying I was wrong – bigger groan. So, it seems the internet masses don’t give a toss about this ancient craft and my gilding skills, sniff, sniff. Then you ask yourself why the heck should they? .It’s had its day. It has become a matter of moving on mate!
The internet is littered with dead and dying horses. Amongst them will be a fair sprinkling of financial wizards. They would claim to resuscitate failing businesses with special keywords and complicated algorithms. Greatly encouraged by Google and Facebook who also cream off much of the proceeds .They profess to increase your income by a substantial amount week after week.
They portray previous clients on the brink of bankruptcy suddenly driving Rolls Royces with desperate customers clamouring to buy their products. .One of these wizards who specialises in small businesses kept popping up in my inbox. He must have been studying my sales figures more groan.
I watched his video to the end with mouth gaping disbelief. It was cleverly put together and gave the impression he would be dealing with your business on a personal level. Even to the point where you could call him anytime on his mobile. All for a mere nine hundred and ninety five pounds. Why don’t they say a 1000 quid? This ninety this and that insults the intelligence of the buying public.
If you have a mobile phone you will have a good idea as to how many calls you can make in a day. Imagine you have hundreds of thousands of clients as he claims. ‘The line will be kinda busy’ and a need for a sandwich break would be out of the question. It reminds me of the pyramid rip offs from the past. The numbers never stack up; we can’t all be rich.
I do admire his tenacity,he doesn’t give up. He has a bunch of affiliates all with different names to relentlessly plug away. I can imagine some small businesses would fall for this slick campaign. But if I had his mobile number I would call him,
” not me mate – you’re flogging a dead horse.”
The gilding content on this site will be gradually phased out and dumped in the FDH folder. Muffled sobs
HOWEVER, the entrepreneurial spirit burns bright and failure is not In my DNA.The 21st century beckons, with loads of exciting stuff going on. My interest settled upon Sublimation Dye Printing on Aluminium.I am so impressed with the vibrancy of colour and outstanding quality of this innovative medium. This is a modest type of enterprise right up my street. With help from an enthusiastic colleague and a couple of creative tweaks to the process I will be starting this new venture. My eldest son with wrinkled brow gave me a hesitant thumbs up and said ‘Err that might have legs Dad’‘ He justified his confidence by placing an order with me for his boat business . Wel, you never know,l he might be right AGAIN!.
More details soon.
